Winks and Ike

We're pleased to introduce the proud mama and her babies at two weeks old.  Winks is proving, as usual, to be a very loving and devoted mom.  She usually has her head in the midst of the puppy pile and if she's not giving someone a bath (left), or feeding the crowd-she's curled up snoozing with babies all around.  Her patience and devotion is an inspiration:)

We have some truly lovely babies.  One Black Female, Three Yellow Females, Two Black Males and Two Yellow Males.  They are just beginning to open their eyes, have nice dark pigment, lovely coats and are eating well!!  Our largest little boy is already FOUR pounds:)

Winks likes to leave her favorite stuffed ladybug in charge when she steps out for a moment and the pups love to snuggle up to it.

Four Weeks Old

I can hardly believe how fast these little ones are growing.  They are such a joy to watch in the evenings as they play with one another and interact with Winks and our family.  Who needs TV??

They got a chance to explore the great outdoors this week for a few days before we got trapped inside again by all the rain.  But they seem to have just as much fun playing in the living room and checking out all the new sights and smells, and of course eating and sleeping, their two favorite pasttimes!  Here is the clan as we know them now.

SIX WEEKS OLD

Wow, these guys seem to be growing up at lightning speed. Yet I can carry a picture around in my mind of their sweet puppy eyes staring up at me, or their little puppy ears flying as they steal a toy from a sibling and bound away in joy and triumph.  They have such a carefree abandon and give their love and kisses generously.

The pups got to enjoy the pool for the first time and went in and out of the water as a game for hours.  They have a few big weeks ahead with people to meet and places to go.  There are first vet appointments,  first shots, new families and more of the yard to explore.  But for now they seem content to romp and maybe stop to smell the flowers....or taste the flowers as the case may be.  Surely and Stella, you better hope Daddy doesn't look at the website or you two are so busted:)
