Ike/Maddie Litter
Born 4-18-2008
Here's our dearest "Fatty Maddie" who is normally trim and agile, looking like the Goodyear blimp. Poor thing was incredibly uncomfortable with all those babies-who were born very good-sized.
Here's the gang at just a few days old with Mom much more comfortable and relaxed. Maddie has performed wonderfully for her first litter and is a diligent, loving mom.
This is the peaceful family at one week. Note the stuffed bear by Maddie's head---Just after the pups were born, I tried to get her to go outside for a break and a little fresh air. When I finally got her to leave the pups, she ran around the house looking for something. She came running back into the whelping room, put her stuffed animal in with the pile of puppies, then looked up at me and smiled and headed for the door. I guess she didn't want to leave them alone!!
Introducing...at Two and a Half weeks old...THE PUPPIES!
Toby (short for Toblerone)
I know he appears black in the photo but this really is our CHOCOLATE boy!
Eyes open and walking well, the pups are growing quickly. They will be three weeks old on the 9th. I can hardly believe it!
At four week on May 16th, the pups are now playing in the yard, eating puppy mush as well as nursing, have their little puppy teeth developing, (we are working already on "no bites"), and are wrestling and playing with us and one another. Their little personalities are just starting to emerge and develop.
This picture at left was taken at 3 1/2 weeks. That's Theodore telling Toby a secret-probably planning a sneak attack on mom.
Here's the pups' first meal. Place your mouse over the picture and see the end result. (CeCe asleep in the bowl guarding the leftovers!)
Now you know how she got her name-CeCe (CC) stands for "chubby cheeks!"
The pups are rapidly approaching my favorite age, but one that is nearly impossible to catch on film. At this point they are either romping about so that I can never catch them still to take a picture-OR they are sleeping! So in order to get pictures of each of them-I asked Sadie to help and hold them still. I got a few candids before they jumped off in a different direction and blurred my shots!!
Charlie giving Sadie puppy kisses.
CeCe planning her next pounce.
Toby at the end of the play session. (He's probably the target of CeCe's pouncing!!)
Maisy doing what she does best-looking darn cute! : )
As you can see, I got a new toy. Took me a bit to play with the photo program so the pictures were delayed. Sorry!
The pups are getting more and more gorgeous every day and are absolutely non-stop fun and entertainment at this age. Maisy is our pint-sized pistol... the smallest in the litter only in size! She has energy and personality enough for a BIG dog! And don't let that innocent look and still photo of Theodore fool you-he is the male version of Maisy-otherwise known as the everready bunnies! Toby has his new name-AJAX-and is the sweet chocolate loverboy.
Life is quieter now that the litter has gone to become beloved family members of these new friends. It's just Dean, Peggy, Colton, Sadie, Ike, Schooner, Ginny, Winks, Maddie, and our new little Westley (AKA Alvin!) . Come to think of it, maybe it's not that much quieter!! : )
That's Toby (formerly Simon) at the top and Ajax (formerly Toby) at right! Down below is LT for "Little Train" (formerly Charlie) and at the bottom right is Lola (formerly CeCe).
